Yellow blooms in “don’t-stop” mode 🌼
Family: Alstroemeriaceae • Pot size: 3lt • Height: ~20–30 cm
Alstroemeria Inticancha® 'Havana' is a patio alstroemeria with a compact habit and rich, continuous flowering from spring to autumn. Its yellow flowers instantly brighten pots, planters and borders, while the strong stems keep the flowers upright and tidy for a long time. As a rhizomatous perennial, it gradually builds volume, fills the pot nicely and is one of those plants that look “well curated” with very little effort.
⭐ What makes the Inticancha® series special:
Inticancha® are patio alstroemerias with a compact habit and continuous flowering from spring through autumn. They have strong stems that hold the blooms upright and travel well, while as a Sun Series they cope better with heat compared to more “sensitive” varieties — ideal for balconies, terraces and bright borders.
Place it in sun or bright partial shade, with enough hours of light to keep flowering steadily. On very hot south-facing balconies, a bit of afternoon shade helps the flowers stay “fresh” for longer. Choose a light, well-drained mix so the rhizome can develop without sitting in constant moisture. It is an excellent choice for patio and balcony containers, but it also performs very well in the garden.
Design goal: stable yellow colour over a long period, combined with plants of similar light/water needs so you get an easy, predictable result.
Taxonomic background: The genus Alstroemeria belongs to the family Alstroemeriaceae and is known for its long flowering season and resilient blooms. In modern horticulture, many varieties arise from hybrids of South American species, combining extended flowering with better performance in gardens and containers.
Habitat & distribution: Wild Alstroemeria species originate from South America (especially Chile and Brazil), in habitats ranging from coastal areas to mountain zones, where seasonal changes drive cycles of growth and dormancy.
Naming & series concept: The Inticancha® series is a patio line with a compact habit and continuous flowering. The breeding focus is on plants with upright stems, high ornamental value and reliable outdoor performance, even under warm conditions (Sun Series).
Selection, breeding & propagation: 'Havana' was selected within the series for its clean yellow colour and rich flower production in a compact size. As with other modern patio alstroemerias, it is propagated vegetatively (rhizome division/nursery production) so that colour, compact growth and flowering pattern remain stable from year to year.

Full sun or bright partial shade. In brighter spots it offers better flowering performance, while in very hot locations a bit of afternoon shade helps.
Water when the top layer of the mix dries slightly, keeping the substrate evenly moist but never permanently soaked. Always empty excess water from saucers or cachepots.
Repot into a 19–23 cm pot (around 3–5 L) ideally when active growth starts. Plant one per pot, centred, and lightly cover the rhizome without over-compacting the soil.
In cold weather, the top growth can reduce or disappear and then return in spring from the rhizome. In pots, protect the root system from prolonged frost and excessive winter moisture.
