A little gold, a little green, an excellent choise✨
Family: Caprifoliaceae • Pot diameter: 15 cm • Height: 20 cm
Abelia × grandiflora 'Francis Mason' is a particularly elegant abelia with bright golden-yellow foliage, green markings through the centre and a soft, arching habit that gives it a very polished look in the garden. The new foliage often emerges with warmer coppery tones, which keeps the plant interesting even before flowering begins, while from summer onward it produces small white to pale pink tubular flowers with a delicate fragrance. It is a shrub that combines colour, lightness and duration: bright without looking loud, and equally effective in a pot, a low border or a planting scheme with darker companions.
Place it in a sunny or very bright position so the foliage keeps its clear golden colouring and the flowering remains reliable. In hotter regions, a little afternoon protection is acceptable, as long as the plant still receives plenty of overall brightness. It is especially suited to entrances, patios, low borders and quieter corners of the garden where you need structure, duration and a bright presence without excess.
It works especially well as a bright linking layer between darker foliage and lighter flowering combinations.
