Layers & microclimate
Start with LECA or gravel for drainage, add activated charcoal and then a suitable substrate. Adjust humidity to suit the plants and whether your terrarium is open or closed.
Decoration & tools
Gravel, sand and moss shape the final landscape. Tweezers, funnels and brushes give you precision when planting, layering and cleaning, especially in glass containers with narrow openings.
