Το σχήμα του φυτού το κάνει να μοιάζει με κοράλλι με τον κυματιστό πρασινωπό μίσχο του, που με παρατεταμένη έκθεση στον ήλιο παίρνει ένα όμορφο μωβ χρώμα.

Κατά μήκος της κορυφής υπάρχουν μικρά αγκάθια καλυμμένα με λευκή πούδρα.

Τα μεγάλα λουλούδια, μήκους άνω των 10 εκατοστών, ανοίγουν τη νύχτα.

The shape of the plant makes it look like a coral with its wavy greenish stem, which with prolonged exposure to the sun takes on a beautiful purple color. 

Along the crest there are small spines covered with a white down. The crested form hardly blooms, however the flower may bloom from non-crested stems. 

The large flowers, more than 10 cm long, open at night. 

Care

• It prefers a bright location, but avoids direct sunlight. Excellent morning sunlight, until 12.00-13.00.
• It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and above all never below 8 ° C, for this reason it is advisable to place it in sheltered and ventilated places during the winter.
• Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is sufficient once a week in spring and summer, to suspend completely in winter.
• A well-draining soil is optimal, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapillus.
• They do not need frequent fertilizations, it will be sufficient to dilute fertilizer with watering once a year.
