Kalanchoe humilis Britten
Family: Crassulaceae
Pot diameter:5.5cm
It is a very showy and decorative succulent, characterized by rosettes of fleshy ovoid leaves, of a blue-greyish colour, and enriched with very evident purple or brown stripes and spots. The foliage has borders with rounded teeth - another peculiarity, which, combined with the chromatic appearance, gave it the nickname of "surprise of the desert", to indicate, how its charm is truly unique! It's a small low-growing succulent with very decorative leaves, also called 'Spotted Kalanchoe' for its green, oval leaves covered with irregular red, brown and purple dots and streaks. During the cool autumn period the colours of the leaves intensify; for this reason it is advisable to keep it outside in autumn. The upright panicle-shaped inflorescence is not particularly decorative.
Thanks to its low habit it is perfect as a table centrepiece or as a small bonbonniere.
