 Ο  Jan Spruyt είναι γνωστός για τη δημιουργία εξαιρετικών ποικιλιών, όπως το Pennisetum 'Lumen Gold', Aster laevis JS® 'Anneke Van der Jeugd', Echinacea purpurea 'JS ROHO' και πολλά άλλα. 

Και αυτό που γνωρίζει καλά είναι η εξαιρετική επίδοση των φυτών στους κήπους. Και αυτό είχε κατά νου όταν δημιούργησε τη Tradescantia ‘JS® Brainstorm’.

Εξαιρετικά ανθεκτική σε κλιματολογικές συνθήκες, εύκολη στη συντήρηση και κυρίως ανθοφορία για όχι λιγότερο από 6 μήνες. Και για το φυτό αυτό η ανθοφορία μεταφράζεται σε συνεχή, χωρίς σταματημό άνθηση, περισσότερο από κάθε άλλη τραντεσκάνθια. 

Δημιουργεί ένα ξεχωριστό θέαμα με μεγάλα πορφυρά-μωβ άνθη και μεγάλο αριθμό ανθέων ανά κεφαλή. Και αυτός ο μεγάλος αριθμός ανθέων είναι η αιτία που το φυτό ανθίζει από Ιούνιο μέχρι Νοέμβριο χωρίς σταματημό. 

Φτάνει σε μέγιστο ύψος τα 50εκ και άνοιγμα 40εκ., και προτιμά θέσεις με ήλιο ή ημισκιά σε υγρό έδαφος. Ανθεκτικό έως -30 ºC.

This super climate-proof, hardy, easy-care plant flowers continuously for no less than 6 (!) months. And when we say flowering, we don’t just mean flowering: ‘JS® Brainstorm’ is in flower non-stop for longer than any Tradescantia so far.

‘JS® Brainstorm’ makes an extreme impact with its big, magenta-purple flowers and high flower count per flower head. And that high flower count is exactly how it manages to bloom from June all the way up to late November.

How to care for Tradescantia ‘JS® Brainstorm’:
Tradescantia ‘JS® Brainstorm’ grows up to 50 cm high and 40 cm wide and prefers a spot in full sun to partial shade in any, moist soil. Hardy to -30 ºC.

How was this plant created?

Tradescantia ‘JS Brainstorm’ was created by breeder Jan Spruyt of Spruyt Select, who said that it ‘brought a brainstorm’ to his head upon seeing it for the first time.

After planting Tradescantia ‘Concord Grape’ within a prairie setting in his private garden, he noticed that a spontaneous seedling was blooming more profusely and for longer than its parent. However, what was even more noticeable to him was the colour of the leaves – the closer to the flower bud, the more the leaves began to match the hue of the flower head.

Jan considered that, in an unfertilised prairie garden, the colours of the leaves are always more intense than in an over fertilised location. However, he also noticed that the plant was not as tall as ‘Concorde Grape’ .

He favours ‘JS Brainstorm’ because of its colour, height, health and resistance to both drought and wetness. In his own words, he is “not always looking for ‘bigger and lower’ but for better and more natural”.
