English
This small cactacea of very small dimensions is considered one of the most beautiful and distinctive, characterized by a stem depressed at the apex, of a greenish color that turns purple in full light.
From its dense and numerous tubercles large spines grow equally, that are of a yellowish or orange color, which cover the entire stem and resemble, due to their arrangement, small spiders.
The inflorescences bloom at the apex of the plant, are relatively large and take on yellow and reddish colors of pleasant warm shades.
Care
- It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.
- It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
- Water moderately only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once every two weeks in spring and summer, once every two months in autumn and suspend it completely in winter.
- A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example a mixture of peat and sand so that the water does not stagnate.
- They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
