Hydrangea paniculata 'white light'® - Ορτανσία

Διάμετρος γλάστρας:17εκ, Ύψος:30εκ.

A beauty in your garden!

The white-coloured flower plumes of the 'Whitelight' (Hydrangea paniculata) grow on sturdy stems. And grow compactly.

The 'Whitelight' is ideal for smaller gardens. The panicle hydrangea flowers profusely in summer.

Whitelight® is a compact and dense growing panicle hydrangea variety producing slightly smaller (12-14 cm tall and wide) panicles composed of tiny fertile flowers and numerous larger sterile flowers.

They come out pale lime green, soon turn to creamy white, and mature to light pink in late summer. Leaves are deciduous, ovate, rich green, and have red stalks.

Whitelight® hydrangea makes an upright, strong standing shrub about 50 cm tall and wide.

Nick van Rosmalen is a Dutch breeder with more than 25 years of breeding experience, and a founder and owner of BREEDIT company which helps other breeders achieve what they are planning to achieve.

He is also behind this beautiful variety which he bred at Dutch nursery Kwekerij Lendert de Vos as a cross between a popular variety Phantom and an unnamed selection.

The result was named WHITELIGHT® and introduced at the international horticultural trade fair Plantarium in 2019 where it won Gold Medal.

Patent No. PP21237 was granted in the same year.

Panicle hydrangea will grow in almost any soil type, preferably humus-rich, moist soil that is not too heavy or shallow.

Once established it does not need extra watering like big-leaf hydrangeas. Full sun is best but it will grow in shade, too.

Feeding is much recommended to enhance flower size.

We recommend regular pruning every spring before the buds begin to swell. By cutting at least two thirds of previous year’s growth you will get a strong shrub with large flowers and a regular shape.

It is hardy to at least -34 °C.
