Οι Φορσύθιες είναι φυλλοβόλοι θάμνοι με μία από τις πιο πρώιμες ανθοφορίες την Άνοιξη. Όταν ανθίζει με πληθώρα κίτρινων ανθέων δημιουργεί ένα μοναδικό θέαμα.

Η ‘Weekend’ είναι μία από τις καλύτερες ποικιλίες με πιο συμπαγή και πυκνή ανάπτυξη από τις άλλες ποικιλίες και εξαιρετική ανθοφορία.

Προσαρμόζεται σε κάθε τύπο εδάφους και είναι φυτό πολύ εύκολο στη συντήρηση του. Ανέχεται τόσο τα  φτωχά εδάφη όσο και προσωρινές συνθήκες ξηρασίας ή πλημύρας. Ανθεκτική έως -29C.

Forsythia x intermedia ‘Weekend’ is one of the most reliable forsythias available. It bears masses of deep yellow blooms on bare stems, from early to mid-spring.

Plant in sun or partial shade, ideally in moist but well drained soil. For the best blooms, cut branches back to a pair of strong buds just after flowering.

It is an improved version of an old golden bell variety Lynwood. It was bred by Alain Cadic from French Angers in 1990.

It exhibits more compact growth and dense habit. Bright yellow flowers appear from early April on upright, fast growing twigs that can be pruned in any way after flowering.

Deciduous leaves are lanceolate, mid-green, serrated. The bark is yellow-green to yellow-brown.

It is widely soil adaptable and easy to grow. It will tolerate poor soil, and both temporary drought or flooding.

Fully hardy to min. -29°C (USDA zone 5), but withstands short spells of deeper frost.
