Echinocereus scheeri 'gentyi' '5.5cm
Οικογένεια: Cactaceae
Διάμετρος γλάστρας:5.5εκ.
English
The name of the species refers to the German trader Frederick Scheer.
It is a very decorative cactus, consisting of numerous cylindrical stems of small width, which exceed half a meter in length, tending to develop with a sparse or creeping trend, hardly vertical.
Each body, of a beautiful emerald green, has symmetrical but shallow longitudinal ribs, adorned with thin and yellowish spines, extremely short or sometimes even absent depending on the subspecies.
One of the strong points of this cactacea is undoubtedly the flowers that will liven up your rooms in spring: on the sides of the slender stems, abundant tubular inflorescences will blossom, very large (even 15 cm!) with shades of pink.
Care
- It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.
- It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
- Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in winter.
- A medium porous substrate, consisting of soil mixed with sand, which makes it well draining. is an optimal solution.
- They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
