Camellia japonica 'Black Lace' - Καμέλια

Από τις πιο όμορφες ποικιλίες, θεωρείται ίσως η καλύτερη κόκκινη Καμέλια.

Ανθεκτική μέχρι -20C. με άνθη υπέρδιπλα και βαθυκόκκινα, που εμφανίζονται από νωρίς την Άνοιξη και διατηρούνται 6-8 εβδομάδες, ανάλογα με τα μπουμπούκια που έχει το φυτό.

Φύλλα βαθυπράσινα και γυαλιστερά, προσδίδουν ομορφιά ακόμα και όταν το φυτό δεν είναι ανθισμένο.

 Black Lace is an older and proved variety of hardy camellia, in fact one of the best reds available.

Its is a hybrid of c.reticulata and c.williamsii and has so far withstood -20°C.

Its fully double, dahlia-like flowers are rich red, and bloom from early April for 6 to 8 weeks if the plant has enough buds. These are formed from the previous year and need as long as half a year to mature.

Leaves are evergreen, ovate, leather, deep green, and very glossy so even without flowers the shrub looks lush and beautiful.

April Rose is upright growing, compact, and bushy, no need for pruning. Still if you need to cut it do so after flowering.
