Plant with a strong diversity. The height and shape on this plant is indicative and may vary from plant to plant.
A strange and beautiful plant!
A very special plant with an unusual trunk and an impressive red flowering. Prefers positions with direct sun exposure and in mild climates can be kept outdoors all year round. In colder climates it can be comfortably adapted indoors. Easy to maintain and drought resistant as it stores water in its roots and at the base of its trunk. Its flowers show off exotic beauty, are striking and large (up to 5cm) and last all Summer. In Winter it may lose its leaves if temperatures are low, a purely transient phenomenon. It is often used to form a bonsai plant because of its peculiar trunk.
Care
Light:Bright light and direct sunlight for better flowering. Watering:Stores water in its trunk and needs little watering. Water in spring and summer, and reduce watering in winter, but keep the plant hydrated to maintain its leaves. Temperature:Ideal temperature above 10°C . If the temperature remains above 16°C in Winter, the plant will retain its leaves. At lower temperatures the leaves may drop, which is normal. Fertilization:Every 2 weeks during the growing season with a general purpose fertilizer. No fertilizer is needed in winter. Dimensions:Can grow up to 2m high but after many years. In pots it remains much smaller. Origin: Ιnative to the Sahel region, south of the Sahara (from Mauritania and Senegal to Sudan), and tropical and subtropical eastern and southern Africa and Arabia.
