Τα Aeonium είναι πολύ δημοφιλή παχύφυτα χάρη στο ιδιαίτερο σχήμα και χρώμα τους. Η ποικιλία ‘Zwartkop’ έχει φύλλα με σχεδόν μαύρο χρωματισμό. Οι βλαστοί μπορούν να φτάσουν τα 90εκ ύψος και συχνά διακλαδώνονται από τη βάση τους.

Σε αντίθεση με τα άλλα παχύφυτα, αναπτύσσεται το Χειμώνα και διαχειμάζει το Καλοκαίρι. Η νέα βλάστηση ξεκινά από το κέντρο της ροζέτας. Καθώς η ροζέτα μεγαλώνει, τα εξωτερικά φύλλα αρχίζουν να πέφτουν, κάνοντας έτσι να φανεί ο βλαστός που συγκρατεί τη ροζέτα. Αν κάποιος δεν επιθυμεί το γυμνό αυτό βλαστό, μπορεί να τον κόψει 2-5 εκ κάτω από το τελευταίο φύλλο και να τον φυτεύσει σε νέα γλάστρα.

Κατάλληλο για φύτευση σε γλάστρες, σε συνθέσεις με άλλα παχύφυτα, σε βραχόκηπους κ.λπ. όπου ξεχωρίζει με το μοναδικό του χρώμα.

Πολύ ανθεκτική ποικιλία, απαιτεί ελάχιστη φροντίδα και πότισμα μόνο όταν οι συνθήκες είναι πολύ ζεστές. Δεν ανέχεται τις πολύ χαμηλές θερμοκρασίες.

Το χρώμα του φυλλώματος ποικίλει και εξαρτάται από την έκθεση στον ήλιο, την εποχή και το κλίμα.

This beautiful succulent plant is also known as 'Black Tree Aeonium'.

Its name derives from the word "zwartkop" which in the Afrikaans language means "black head" due to the numerous rosettes on the top of its almost black stems.

Its glossy burgundy-black leaves the more they are exposed to the direct sun, the more they become black. As it grows, this plant loses its basal leaves and discovers its brown smooth trunk. In spring you can admire its beautiful yellow flowers, which bloom from the center of the rosette.

It is a perfect succulent plant to give a touch of liveliness to your balconies or window sills or to use in your exclusive plant compositions.

Care

It requires a lot of light all year long, however avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures or over, but never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, and suspend watering completely in winter.
A well-draining soil is an optimal solution, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
